In search of the “punctum”…

or for that certain something that captivates me. Looking for a photo that touches me, reminds me of something, perhaps a personal experience or a mood. Or even after a shot that touches me, in any case holds my gaze for a while so that I can continue to deal with this impression. That is what distinguishes such photos from others.

Everyone has a different view of things, has different experiences. Certain images appeal to us, others do not.

It is the selection of the motif itself, it is the choice of the detail and the perspective. Playing with sharpness and blurriness, light and shadow as well as color are important ingredients. Some photographs don’t work without the necessary technology, and yet other photos get by with very little.

What do I personally perceive? What is important to me and what mood do I want to convey? Do I create suspense, do I arouse interest or is the motif only significant for me or at least for me?

It is nice when a spark jumps over to the viewer – in this search for the so-called “punctum”, to quote Roland Barthes.

The photos I want to post here are my journey on this quest.
