What is that?
Monsters of the deep sea, dragons or mythical creatures, what do these bizarre creatures remind you of?
In fact, it is the abandoned cocoon of a butterfly. They are the remains of a complex biological development and transformation process.
This is what happens when I work together with my wife, the artist Magdalena Hohlweg.
In her work, Magdalena Hohlweg places trivial finds in unexpected new contexts.
These inconspicuous shells, the remnants of a metamorphosis into a butterfly, have been shown here in the right light and enlarged so that I can make their uniqueness, their bizarre beauty visible to our eyes.
These artistic cocoons are fascinating. The richness of detail is surprising, the unusual and at the same time extremely functional forms reveal an alien beauty.
