Conflict Zone Living Room

The anticipation of a cozy movie night on the couch at home. Chips and drinks are ready and waiting.
The evening news bursts into my living room and confronts me with armed conflicts, violence and war crimes. These images invade my private retreat – no way to help and no way to hide from them.
The idea
The theme of the Celeste Prize – In Conflict 2017 – inspired me to create this work. The scene is fictional and arranged, the message itself is unfortunately very real. Procedure
The destroyed house was in Hamburg and was demolished; the photo was subsequently edited and enlarged.

The newsreader, the “anchorman”, is the photographer himself. Shot against a monochrome background, the resulting television image was adapted to the German television news program. The image of the ruined house is projected into the scene by a data projector.
I then photographed the scene arranged in this way.
