The photographs, measuring approx. 10 x 10 cm, come close to the look and format of the old photographs.
Back then, the prints were often not enlarged from the negative, but the photographic paper was exposed using the contact method and then developed. This resulted in razor-sharp, high-contrast paper images that still show an impressive wealth of detail today, even when viewed with a magnifying glass.
This series of works shows miniature scenes, different gestures look like strokes in the landscape.
The arrangement makes me curious about the small details that are hidden within.
What story do the images tell you?
“Verschlusssache”
Capturing the moment, that certain something that captivates me. A photo that touches me, reminds me of something, perhaps a personal experience or a mood. A photo that captures my gaze for a while.
It is the selection of the motif itself, it is the choice of the detail and the perspective. Playing with sharpness and blurriness, light and shadow as well as color are important ingredients.
The first glance from a distance captures the geometric arrangement. The symmetry and the earthy, warm colors convey calm and balance.
How many squares do you discover, 4, 8, 10, 14 ?
Get closer: a few high-contrast details will soon allow you to recognize the tiny person on the horizon. She gives signs to someone in the distance.
Stories emerge…
These photographs remind me of old family photos, black and white or rather cream-colored. The people depicted are often small, an enraptured moment from a distant time. The sunshine casts harsh shadows.
