Series of works
Four-four time.
For me, four recordings belong together. They form a new whole – a compositional unity of repetition, change and space in between.
The series of works does not follow a place. But a rhythm.
Homage: Rollfilm memories
The photographs are only about 10 × 10 cm in size.
Old family photographs on roll film inspired me to create this series of works.
There is often an astonishing amount of detail in the small prints of old roll films. Viewed with a magnifying glass, a separate pictorial space opens up: gestures, shadows, figures, traces of a distant time.
These photographs remind me of old family photos: small, high-contrast, black and white or cream-colored. People sometimes only appear in them as symbols – distant figures in a moment that seems to have fallen out of time.
The approximately 10 × 10 cm photographs in this series of works take up this impression. They are reminiscent of contact prints, in which the photographic paper was exposed directly from the negative. This resulted in small, sharp and high-contrast paper images whose richness of detail is still fascinating today.
Strokes in the landscape
The works show miniature-like scenes. Reduced gestures and figures appear like lines in the landscape – schematic, graphic, almost silhouette-like.
The colors are deliberately altered: earthy brown, ochre beige, high contrast. Not as a documentary image of a landscape, but as a graphic condensation.
From a distance, the order is initially apparent: squares, surfaces, rhythm. Up close, details emerge. A small figure on the horizon. A gesture. A sign in the distance.

The view in time
Some things return, others start anew.
As in a musical structure, sequences are created in which motifs recur and change at the same time. Not every picture stands on its own. Meaning arises in the context – in the distance between the moments, in the recognition of the familiar.
Stories emerge.
vier.viertel is a series of works about rhythm, memory and seeing in small pictures.
